This year we will be doing Reader's Workshop with small intervention groups as needed.  Reader's Workshop allows students to read at their own reading level and allows the students to pick books that fit their interests.

This year we will using Writer's Workshop.  In kindergarten we will focus on Narrative, Opinion, Informational, and How To writing.  Through writer's workshop students are able to write at the level at which they are at.

This year we will be using Eureka Math.  There are tons of resources online if you are interested.

We use FOSS for our science.  Also, as part of our school-wide 'Play and Learn by the Bay' we are very excited to be adding an additional unit with the help of the Lawrence Hall of Science.  For kindergarten our focus will be on ponds and their connection to the Bay.

Interested in donation to our class?  If so, you can always check our back door for items we are in need of.  Or if you feel so inclined I have a couple requests on Donor's Choose --one is to add some new and exciting items to our play time since our longer day allows for more play and one is for items to prepare for our pond unit!  Once on the website search for "schnetz" and you should be able to fine my requests.  Thanks for support and I will keep you posted on the new and exciting things coming to our classroom!

We welcome volunteers and we have many ways you can help (art docent, garden docent, take home items, field trips, and more). If you are interested in volunteering for any of the above ways just let me know. Beginning this year, volunteers will need to be fingerprinted.  PTA will be doing fingerprinting at their first meeting (Sept 7th). The cost is $71 but there is financial assistance if need be.  Get it done this year and it will last you as long as your child attends an AUSD school.
